The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination is a national-level exam conducted annually to recruit medical officers for various central government departments. Eligibility Criteria:
Educational Qualification:
- Candidates must have passed both written and practical parts of the final MBBS examination.
- Final-year MBBS students awaiting results may apply, but they must provide proof of qualification before appointment.
Age Limit:
- Candidates must be below 32 years as of August 1 of the examination year.
- For certain posts under Central Health Services, the upper age limit is 35 years.
- Age relaxations are available for reserved categories as per government rules.

Selection Process:
The UPSC CMS Exam consists of two stages:
- Written Examination (Computer-Based Test – CBT)
- Paper 1: General Medicine & Pediatrics (250 Marks)
- Paper 2: Surgery, Gynecology & Obstetrics, and Preventive & Social Medicine (250 Marks)
- Each paper consists of objective-type questions and is conducted online.
- Personality Test (Interview)
- Candidates who clear the written exam are called for a personality test (100 Marks).
